Virtual reality for gait training

Active Participation is the main driver in gait recovery. However, treadmill walking is boring and not goal directed. Games on screen or in VR during treadmill walking are relevant as they might provide a purpose for the walking.
However, how can we design games that faster active participation on a treadmill, knowing that subjects can only walk straight forward and there is nothing to be done except walking? At first sight it seems there is no nice game scenario to come up with. How can the game automatically adapt to the performance of the subjects?

Kind of work

The thesis will consist of the following steps:
(1) Review of related literature
(2) Implementation of gaming scenario
(3) Measuring active participation with and without the VR game
(4) Thesis writing

Framework of the Thesis

You will use the Unity Game Engine and program it with C#
