Functional upper limb analysis with low cost sensors

Subject

Biomechanical analysis of the arms and shoulder (upper limb functional analysis) is performed in high end movement analysis laboratories (using for instance Vicon), for diagnosis, treatment follow-up, surgery planning etc from patients suffering from various movement disorders.
We have previously developed methods for performing similar analysis for by means of low cost cameras, for instance Microsoft Kinect and we have performed clinical validation to quantify the quality of the obtained data.

Based on this earlier work and depending on the interest of the student, we could extend the system in several manners:
* Development of a web based analysis tool: extending a JAVA tool to provide online clinical reports.
* Development of new algorithms for Kinect based functional analysis: new methods for filtering and interpolating the obtained signals: Python or C++
* Extension of a training system for upper limb rehabilitation with the motion analysis tools, using MonoGame and C#
