Project description

The project focusses on the development of an innovative medical needle to improve the safety and
effectiveness of oocyte retrieval in Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), such as In-Vitro Fertilization
(IVF). This procedure, though routine, can be challenging in patients with anatomical variations or high-risk profiles,
where current needle designs may lead to complications or failed retrieval.
Our project addresses a clear unmet medical need by proposing a novel retrieval device aimed at increasing
procedural control, reducing patient risk, and improving outcomes in both standard and complex cases. The
technology builds on an initial proof-of-principle and will now be further developed and validated in a proof-of
concept project.
By enhancing usability and precision, this innovation has the potential to support broader access to fertility care
and offer clinical value in other minimally invasive procedures. The project includes preparatory steps toward
regulatory strategy, clinical validation, and valorization through partnerships with industry.
