The basic challenge of the RESUME-project is to combine the know-how of the four participating partners in their respective research domains to perform generic basic research that will result in a new platform-based solution for running scalable video applications on a reconfigurable embedded system.

Among other research topics we will be working on:

1) the enhancement of video applications to take scalability of quality of service (QoS) into account,
2) scalable data encoding technology,
3) the use of (both static and dynamic) metadata for negotiating QoS between application and terminal,
4) the use of reconfigurable hardware in an embedded context and the introduction of a middleware layer for resource scheduling and negotiating, taking into account the adaptability of the hardware.
