The aim of this chapter is to introduce non-parametric approaches for deformable image registration that have been used in the field of radiation therapy. We initially focus on the so-called {"}Demons algorithm{"}, and then describe variants of it and a few other diffusion-like approaches. We will illustrate the usefulness of deformable image registration by listing some common applications in the field of radiation therapy and detail one particular example dealing with lung cancer treatment.
