Abstract

The need for reliable methods that can proof the integrity of digital images increases rapidly these days. Images can easily be tampered with to give a false impression of reality, adding to the problem of fake news. Images are also creative works and may be subject to copyrights. Consequently, being able to proof when, where or how a specific picture was taken gains importance. Blockchain technology provides a solution for creating tamper proof distributed ledgers. However, adopting blockchain technology for digital image integrity poses several challenges. This paper walks through several image integrity use cases and presents technical solutions.
