We discuss nonlinear properties and applications of multilayer Bragg heterostructures as a vertical fiber-coupled electro-absorption transceiver, as a high power optically controlled traveling wave oscillator and as a fiber-coupled filter. Multiple features could be integrated in one device to use a single optical link for every feature.
