Abstract

Left handed materials (LHM) take the attention of researchers in various domains in the electromagnetic spectrum due to the exciting new possibilities that do nno exist in natural materials. The electromagnetic behavior of these materials allows having permittivity and/or permeability with negative real parts. In this paper we will investigate two designs of LHM in the W-band range (70-112 GHz). The LHMs under study are double-negative materials (DNG) composed of various configurations of split ring resonators (SRR) in combination with wire structures. CST MICROWAVE STUDIO is used to simulate the left handed materials. The electromagnetic fields have been monitored at different frequencies from a single simulation. Moreover the complex permittivity and permeability are retrieved from the S-parameters for the whole W-band.
