Abstract 

We compare the performance of three variations of the Hough Transform with a new variation we propose for automatically detecting planes in 3D camera images. Using 3 orthogonal planes detected by this method, we can estimate the extrinsics relating the camera coordinate system to a coordi-nate system defined by the three planes. This calibration me-thod is a component of our 3d camera based framework for the automatic monitoring of activity patterns of elderly.
