Abdellah Touhafi is professor at the Engineering Sciences Faculty of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. As a member of the Engineering technologies department and the Electronics and Informatics department he is responsible for the major courses related to electronics design, embedded computing and reconfigurable computing.

"My Ultimte Goal is to Improve the World's sustainability by means of Smart Electronic Systems"

His research interests are smart and industrial electronics, reconfigurable computing systems, multi-sensorial systems and cloud computing. Those topics are deployed within two emerging applications that are electronics for sustainable applications (advanced sensor systems for environmental monitoring, embedded energy harvesting for battery free low power electronics) and digital education (remote learning, mobile learning and security aspects of digital learning). He is serving as an editor for the Journal of Sensors and the Journal of Remote Sensing. He is  Secretary of IEEE SA P2834 Standard on Secure and Trusted Learning Systems. He is chairing several conferences related to smart cities, cloud computing and industrial electronics. His work has been published in more than 130 scientific publications.
