Katarina Kostkova is a researcher at the department of Electronics and Informatics (ETRO) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
She is a strong research professional with a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) focused in Software engineering from Slovenská Technická Univerzita in Bratislava.

Katarina has years of experience in the private sector, where she focused on customer-specific solutions.
After years working in a private company, she returned to academia to support the technical side of the ongoing research projects in the physical rehabilitation domain.
Over the years she was an active member of several international projects and among her responsibilities were software design & development, project website editor, social media management, etc.

Projects 
  • iVision – Game-based adaptive therapy for children with cerebral visual impairment
  • Open Feasyo – an open source serious gaming platform for use in physical rehabilitation
  • Frail – smartwatch app that supports elderly individuals who are in a pre-frail or frail state
  • Therapy Lens – software application for supporting patients with neurological disease in activities of daily living (ADL), using the Microsoft HoloLens
Achievements (Honors & Awards) 
  • 2019 – De Luca Foundation prize with the Ghostly game
  • 2009 – special award of the evaluation committee with the project: “Identifying an individual in large information spaces by leveraging social relationships” on CZ ACM & SK ACM Student Research Competition
