Remco Royen received the MSc degree in Electrical Engineering (awarded with the highest honors) from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2019. His interests in the domain of Artificial Intelligence led him to do an AI-focused exchange to Sapienza Università di Roma in 2018. Since October 2019, he is a PhD fellow at the Electronics and Informatics (ETRO) department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. In 2020 he was awarded with a PhD fellowship strategic basic research at Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO). His research interests are in computer vision and deep learning with focus on point cloud processing, scene understanding and sparse representations.
