Ing. Roald Van Glabbeek obtained his MSc degree in Industrial Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2019. He is now working on his PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is teaching assistant in programming, electronics and networking courses.
With the expansion of IoT, the low-power side of IoT is also going to grow rapidly.
However, many of the protocols used for this are suboptimal. The goal of my PhD is to improve existing and define new protocols for low-power applications in order to improve the performance in terms of different parameters. The focus is on MAC, routing and network protocols that work with the Internet Protocol.
