Smart Cities & Environment
Overview

Smart cities refers to automating and optimising networks and services of a city with the use of ICT solutions for the benefit of  the economy and citizens’ life and health.  It encompasses technologies such as (wireless) sensor networks, data processing, analytics and visualisation, and intelligent systems and vehicles. Smart cities research envisions, for example, smarter urban transport networks, efficient ways to light and heat buildings, efficient public administration, safer public spaces and higher urban air quality.
