As the ETRO department and its professors have a very strong network with other departments at VUB and with universities, research institutes and companies throughout the world, there are many options for collaborating with others during a PhD at ETRO:
- ETRO has formal collaborations with several universities, resulting in International Joint Research Groups (IJRG). Joint research with these institutes is a daily reality at ETRO. An overview of the IJRG and other formal collaborations can be found here. For instance, Athanasios Kordelas is currently working on a Phd entitled “Scheduling distributed computing recourses for big data” with the University of Patras, in the context of the joint research group, under the supervision of prof. Nikos Deligiannis
- EUTOPIA is growing alliance of likeminded universities ready to reinvent them
- PhDs are possible between VUB and other universities. Depending on the formal rules of the other university, this can be a joint phd or a double degree. We permanently have several such PhD’s running. selves: Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona, CY Cergy Paris Université, University of Warwick, University of Gothenburg, University of Ljubljana and of course our Vrije Universiteit Brussel and provides opportunities for collaborating on PhD’s.
